12 Weeks to Go !!
2 years, 6 months ago
We are now officially only 12 weeks away from this year’s festival and we are busier than ever behind the scenes. Each month brings new challenges for the volunteer teams who help put the fair together throughout the year. As ever, we are still very much in need of volunteers for the event across all areas and if you’re interested in getting involved either now or nearer the time, please contact us through http://strawberry-fair.org.uk/pages/get-involved/
Our production areas are currently being finalised and in particular we have a vacancies for some very important and dare we say ‘magical’ roles; we are looking for people to join the Kids Park Coordinating team. If you think you fit the bill or you know someone who has the skills and dedication to making this fairytale come true for the children of Cambridge - get them to get in touch ASAP!
Applications are now open for non-food traders and community groups who would like to have a stall or area at the Fair.
Please fill in the form online http://strawberry-fair.org.uk/pages/traders/ and you will be contacted by a member of our Traders Team.
Sunday 19th March 6pm - 10pm
Strawberry Faeries present: A Springtime benefit for Strawberry Fair’s Scarecrow Corner with music and spoken word featuring: Phil Pain, The Brewers Daughter, Stumblecol, Symeon Webb, Justin Thyme, Johnny Marvel, Bella Basura at The Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. £2 suggested donation.
Thursday 23rd March
Strawberry Faeries present: A Scarecrow Corner benefit gig featuring: Tribazik, Ghost (Live PA) + Support tbc +DJ's at The Portland Arms, Cambridge. £5 admission.
This is the welcome return of Tribazik who headlined Scarecrow Corner in 2014. They have worked with the likes of Killing Joke and have blasted through Boomtown and Alchemy festivals. Inspired by an eclectic taste in music (industrial, experimental, electro, techno, thrash and roots), TRIBAZIK’s aim is to create an energetic, solid sound combining organic drums and bass and heavy guitar with contemporary electronic sounds and effects- bridging the gap between metal and electro/dance. All samples are played LIVE (triggered from pads around the drum kit) and include vocal chants, acid lines, industrial thuds, caustic pulses and sirens. These, accompanied by freestyle bass, heavy groove/melodic guitar and manic drums, create the high-energy idiosyncratic TRIBAZIK sound.
This is the sixth in a new season of benefit gigs for next years Scarecrow Corner at Strawberry Fair on Saturday 3rd June, 2017 and will mark the 20th anniversary of the area!

Its March and that only means one thing in Cambridge .. The 2017 Cambridge Band Competition heats are underway and the pressure is hotting up as the competition this year is fierce! We have seen the first of the heats take place last weekend and we are already clown away by the level of talent and originality shown in the music heard so far.

In the last 30 years the Band Competition has produced some great winners and many of the competitors have gone on to work with some top names in the industry, and all have fond recollections of being involved in the event.
Split into two separate catagories; the Over 18’s and the Under 18’s, entrants can be any performers of original music, from solo performers to full bands. All genres are accepted, so long as material is original music. Soloists, comedy musicians, and classical musicians have been encouraged to apply – it’s not just about full bands, the competition is for every musician in Cambridge
