We are very excited to have so many excellent acts competing in the 31st Cambridge Band Competition.

Tickets for the heats will be £5 in advance and £6 on the door with reduced price tickets for under 18s attending the under 18’s heats (£4 advance/£5 on the door).Advance tickets are available through the event pages on Facebook and on The Portland Arms website

The winner of the Under 18s Final will join the Over 18s finalists at the Junction on Friday 29th April from 7.30pm where the prize for the Competition winner will be presented by the Mayor of Cambridge, Mr Rob Dryden. 

The Under 18’s heats line up is:

Heat 1: Frenzy, a five piece indie-rock band from Cambridge; Departure at 3, a three piece guitar based act from Newmarket; Lost Tourists, a four piece indie band from Cambridge and Ely and Matty and the Bullsharks, a five piece alternative Rock band from Cambridge.

Heat 2: Deep City, a four piece indie-rock band from Cambridge; Room C, a five piece funk-rock band from Saffron Walden; Saltfen, a four piece indie rock band from Haddenham and Ely and Fix, a three piece alternative Rock band from Cambridge.

Heat 3: Lucid, a three piece guitar band from Cambridge; Tom and Paris, a singer songwriter duo from Bury St Edmunds; Tom Korni, the one boy band from Bedford and The Hooligans, a three piece folk band from Saffron Walden.

The Over 18s heats line up is:

Heat 1: Echo Tree - a five piece Indie band from Cambridge and Stevenage; Datum Plane, a four piece acoustic/folk band from Cambridge; Stone Deepe, a four piece progressive indie rock band from ARU Cambridge and The Abstracts, a four piece Indie Rock band from Cambridge.

Heat 2: Permission to Dance, a five piece disco band from Baldock; Sofasonic, a four piece blues-rock indie band from Hertford; Alter the Sky, a five piece hard rock band from Cambridge and Radar, a three piece rock band from Cambridge.

Heat 3: Mark Sullivan, a singer-songwriter from Stevenage; Schrödinger's Strings, a trio from Hertford featuring two harps and a guitar; Hoshino, an alternative/electronic music trio from Cambridge and Hertford and Saachi, a five piece jazz-pop ensemble from Cambridge University.

Heat 4: Fenrir, a five piece alternative rock band from Haverhill; Neil Robben Blues Project, a five piece blues-rock-jazz-funk-soul band from Cambridge; The Virtues, a four piece alternative rock band from Bury St Edmunds and Meet Me At Dawn, a five piece Rock Band from Cambridge.

It’s not too late to volunteer to help out at any of the heats. From helping set up the stage between acts, working on the merchandise table, helping in the box office or stewarding and helping out there is always something to do. Email for more information.
