Strawberry Fair 2016 Day 4 of Build Week

Midsummer Common is starting to look like Strawberry Fair, even if the weather doesn’t quite feel like it yet.

It was a lot less wet and the ground is drying up nicely, but it was very windy. This made the job of covering fences with white sheeting pretty difficult as the sheeting acted a lot like a sail in exposed spots and meant that the fences needed other panels put in as reinforcement. The idea is that you use extra panels to make a triangle shape to hold the fence line, it’s pretty common practice but of course it’s more work to do.

The wind also meant that some things simply cannot be done until the wind drops, which it is meant to do tomorrow. There will be a lot of work to be done with stages and areas tomorrow.

Traders started arriving on site today and began setting up. More marquees are up. Security is on site. All sorts of décor and furniture arrived, with more to come tomorrow.

If you have any time spare tomorrow please come to the Common and ask for our Volunteer Coordinator, Mark McGivern, and he will know what needs to be done and how you can help to do it.

Only one more day of work to go before Strawberry Fair!!!
