LOVE MUSIC HATE RACISM: HEROES FIGHTING THE POWER FOR A BETTER WORLD
From the homage of the early rock'n'rollers to black blues players, to Stormzy railing against Theresa May and Lily Allen taking on Trump, popular music has a proud tradition as a unifying force, energising and bringing people together to oppose injustice and prejudice. If you are worried about the rise in racist attacks, Islamophobia and anti Semitism, the growth of Nazi parties in mainland Europe and Donald Trump's nasty friends in USA, or want to welcome refugees and migrants, then you need to get involved with Love Music Hate Racism!
Cambridge Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) puts on regular shows around the City in venues little and large(r), and our small but perfectly formed stage area has become a valued fixture at Strawberry Fair. It is space where those want to discuss building a fairer world can meet, discuss, campaign and network, while listening to some damn good music.
This year we are concentrating on hosting young performers. Cambridge is crawling with young talent encouraged, at least in part, by our regular Young Performers Gigs and our line up reflects this healthy state of affairs with young acts taking centre stage until mid afternoon when some slightly more mature acts take to the boards. However all our acts are packed with youthful energy, ideas and inspirations.
We want our stage to reflect the diversity of music making in Cambridge and in Britain;
Rock – Hip-hop – Grime – Dubstep – Drum n Bass – Indie – Reggae – R&B – Punk – Bhangra – Jazz… Rebel Music - OUR MUSIC!!
